Juanita Lanzo: Formas Feroces y Tiernas (Fierce and Tender Forms)
Curated by David Rios Ferreira
Juanita Lanzo’s biomorphic forms reflect the unpredictable and often fragile nature of human destiny. The paintings and drawings on paper are translucent, cerebral, and intricately layered; they draw from anatomy, the microscopic world, and other organic shapes to contemplate intimacy and reproduction, death and decay, pain and pleasure, and the complex process of healing from trauma. Lanzo envisions structural and functional transformations influenced by unseen forces. Her creations leave traces of the body’s hidden disturbances, making the invisible visible and mapping how our most intimate physical, psychological, and metaphysical human experiences are shaped.
