Charlie Hunter gives a plein air painting demonstration at the Bellows Falls train station, followed by a tour of his nearby studio.

This event is presented in connection with Charlie Hunter: Semaphore, which is generously sponsored by The Marina restaurant in Brattleboro.

Charlie Hunter writes in his artist statement, “My goal is to paint beautifully that which is not traditionally considered beautiful. Sorta like a less-grotesque Anselm Keifer in a better mood. Using a squeegee helps.” Hunter is known for depicting what he calls “decaying American infrastructure.” He writes, “I like to paint what nature does to what man creates.” A former tour poster designer, album cover designer, and music manager, Hunter now focuses primarily on painting. He holds a B.A. in art from Yale University and has exhibited nationally since 2014.
