Gallery Walk

August 6, Friday, 5-8 p.m.

BMAC is open late and admission is free during Brattleboro’s monthly Gallery Walk, a first-Friday community celebration of all things artful.

Lynn Herring presents XOX! Share the Love, a reengineered tic-tac-toe game designed to “make America relate again.” The game features organic crooked-shaped, brightly-colored wood Xs and Os and uses a complicated, “wonky-shaped” game board. Herring will give an artist talk at 6 p.m.

With this work, Herring says that she is asking, “Can art bring people together to set aside their differences, to sit down and relate respectfully and playfully with each other?” She adds, “Dr. Stuart Brown of the National Institute of Play says, ‘Play is called recreation because it makes us new again. It re-creates us and our world.’ And we certainly need to recreate our world. So, I challenge you to play this game with me.”
