May 1, Friday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

UPDATE 3/31/20: This event has been cancelled. We hope to reschedule. We apologize for any inconvenience.

During Gallery Walk on May 1 and June 5, Stuart Copans (“Shmuel”) will be available to chat with Museum visitors about the phenomenon that is mail art. Copans will share additional examples of mail art beyond those featured in the exhibit—items selected from his extensive mail art archives, estimated to include over 25,000 artifacts.

This event is presented in conjunction with Postcards to Brattleboro: 40 Years of Mail Art, which features postcards, cut-outs, drawings, and poems sent and received by Copans over nearly 50 years. The exhibit includes mail art from Copans to Welch as well as items that Copans received from Kandy Phillips, Walt Evans, Julie Hagan Bloch, John Bennett, Jazzy Lupa, Peter Dudley, Andrea Jay, and Ryosuke Cohen.
