Artist Talk: Jon McAuliffe and Craig Stockwell

In their collaborative painting project, Recovering The Body, Jon McAuliffe and Craig Stockwell join their disparate artistic styles and techniques to explore themes of agency and artistic impulse in a world disrupted by forces larger than the individual. Reaching back to the end of the Heroic Age, this collection of paintings seeks to trace those impulses through the “war to end all wars,” through the life and tragic death of the explorer, George Mallory, and to the present moment, where the search remains.
