Kung Fu & Popular Culture

Kung Fu is a way of life, a philosophy that in its influence has brought about social and personal change for many people across all walks of life. In this 2-hour lecture and demonstration Damon Honeycutt will look at Chinese Martial Arts and the influence it has had on popular culture throughout the 20th and beginning of the 21st century. Damon will examine how the aesthetic of Chinese Martial Arts, or its popular term Kung Fu, has influenced media, film, dance, art and many other aspects of popular expression. Audience members will have the opportunity to learn some Kung Fu and see some of the higher level aspects of the art performed.

Admission: $5 adults, seniors, and students; free for BMAC members and children under 6.
