Whether behind the scenes or in the museum galleries, volunteers are integral to the success of BMAC. Volunteer hours are flexible, and training is provided.

  • Gallery Greeters & Monitors play a vital role in shaping visitors’ experiences of BMAC. Greeters work regular or occasional shifts at the front desk when BMAC is open to the public. Monitors help oversee the galleries and provide assistance to visitors as needed.
  • Event volunteers help ensure the success of BMAC’s many events, ranging from artist talks and concerts to domino topplings and dinner parties. Event volunteers assist with setup, cleanup, decorations, food service, crowd management, artwork security, and more.
  • Installation volunteers assist with the installation and de-installation of exhibitions, often working closely with artists and curators. Experience with art installation, painting, carpentry, and power tools is helpful.
  • Office volunteers work behind the scenes with BMAC’s administrative staff, helping with filing, mailings, organizing the BMAC archives, and more. Computer skills are a plus.
  • Marketing volunteers help spread the word about BMAC’s exhibitions, events, and programs by distributing posters, taking photos or videos, and assisting with social media and other communications projects. Opportunities range from occasional assignments to regular weekly computer-based tasks, including updating online calendars and tracking media coverage. Experience with photography, social media, or website management is helpful but not required.
