We want everyone to feel welcome at BMAC and to have a comfortable, rewarding visit. If you have questions about accessibility or would like to discuss accommodations before your visit, please call 802-257-0124 x101 or email office@brattleboromuseum.org. Gallery staff are also available during your visit to answer questions and offer assistance.
Getting Around
The parking lot in front of the museum includes a designated accessible parking space. From the parking lot, visitors can take a path with several stone steps to the front doors or use a ramp to reach an accessible entrance. The accessible entrance does not have an automatic door; please ring the bell, and a greeter will come to open it.
With the exception of one gallery, all public spaces in the museum—six galleries, restrooms, and the gift shop—are on a single level and are wheelchair-accessible. A wheelchair and walker are available to borrow upon request.
The Ticket Gallery is not wheelchair-accessible. Reaching it requires climbing five shallow steps with a handrail. When exhibitions are installed in this space, visitors can take a virtual tour by scanning a QR code at the museum or following a link on the exhibition webpage.
Most visitors spend about an hour exploring the museum, but you are welcome to explore at your own pace and take breaks as needed. Seating is available throughout the museum.
Service animals are welcome.

Restrooms
Two single-user, gender-neutral restrooms are available. One is wheelchair-accessible and contains a baby-changing station.
Sensory Environment
The museum’s galleries vary in scale and acoustics. The Wolf Kahn & Emily Mason Gallery has high ceilings and an open layout. Sound tends to echo in this space, and it may feel louder or more difficult to hear than in other galleries.
Lighting levels vary by exhibition and are generally kept moderate to protect the artwork.
The temperature in the galleries is maintained at approximately 70°F.
Some exhibitions include audio or video components. Captions and ASL interpretation, when provided, are noted on individual exhibition webpages.
Weekdays tend to be quieter than weekends. If you would like to arrange a private visit outside regular museum hours, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Other Accessibility Resources
Large-print gallery brochures and written transcripts of exhibition audio components are available upon request.
Exhibition-specific accessibility information, including ASL resources and virtual tours, can be found on individual exhibition webpages.
