Fractured, Not Broken is a collaborative quilt project connecting people inside and outside prison walls.
The quilt was designed, pieced, and painted by participants in a quilting workshop at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield, Vermont, during the fall and winter of 2025-26. Throughout the following spring and summer, members of the Brattleboro community were invited to add their own stitches, transforming the quilt into a shared work of art and a catalyst for dialogue across prison walls.
This event celebrates the completion of the project and the many individuals and organizations whose contributions brought it to life.
The incarcerated men who created the quilt are JA, DC, DF, QG, FN, JO, and TR. State regulations do not allow them to be identified by their full names until they are released from prison.
Presented in collaboration with Interaction and the Vermont Prison Research and Innovation Network, with funding from the Vermont Arts Council.
