Glotech Cantata: A Performance of Images

Location
Glotech Cantata is an evening of movement, sound, and still images that interprets the dance between women and influencer marketing. Taking the Glotech LED facial mask as its motif, the work meditates upon our era of aspirational social media, where women are both the authors and the objects of images. This site-responsive performance uses “paintings”—large printed panels of still lifes, masks, and color abstractions—as both props and a movable set that frame, conceal, and cast color onto dancers, who pit improvised movements against stylized gestures and words.
Glotech Cantata is written, directed, and designed by Amy Beecher, with original choreography by Tess Dworman and sound design by Ryan Gamblin. It is performed and developed by Hilary Clark, Jessica Cook, and Mariana Valencia.
