Workshop: Gelli-Plate Printmaking
BMAC’s 2023 Climate Change Artist in Residence, Lia Rothstein, leads a two-day printmaking workshop with a focus on sustainable practices. Using natural materials and non-toxic processes, participants will design their own Gelli printing plate and make prints that can be used as holiday cards or all-purpose works of art.
Rothstein will teach methods for layering images using print registration, transparency, texturing, stenciling, and direct-plate drawing. Participants will leave the workshop with amazing prints that can be used in a variety of ways.
Day 1 (2-4 p.m.): Participants design Gelli printing plates and discuss non-toxic printmaking methods.
Day 2 (1-4 p.m.): With their new ready-to-use plates, participants will create prints on paper with non-toxic inks.
This workshop takes place at River Gallery School (32 Main St. #201, Brattleboro, Vermont).
ADMISSION: $90, $75 for BMAC members (includes all materials)
