Natalie Frank is a multimedia artist who explores contemporary discourse on feminism, sexuality, and violence. She and curator Elissa Watters will discuss Frank’s process and the work on view in the exhibit Painting with Paper.

Frank works directly with wet pigmented paper pulp to make portraits of women with animal counterparts who act as talismans, spirit guides, or alter egos. Simultaneously beautiful and grotesque, these dynamic portraits both reference and challenge the construction of feminine identity and conventional gender norms.
