In this live Zoom presentation, Catherine Barth discusses Minor White and his influence on photography in connection with Sequences: Ode to Minor White.

Barth received her Ph.D. in art history from Emory University in 2021, her M.A. from Emory, and her B.A. from William & Mary. She has held Mellon Graduate Research and Object-Centered Curatorial Fellowships in the Photography Department at the High Museum of Art and a curatorial internship in the Department of Photographs at the J. Paul Getty Museum. Her dissertation, “Frederick Sommer: Photography at the Limits of the Avant-Garde,” received support from the Amon Carter Museum of American Art’s Davidson Family Fellowship, the Center for Creative Photography’s Kenneth J. Botto Research Fellowship, and Princeton University Art Museum’s Minor White Archive Research Grant. Barth is currently conducting research on Sommer’s reception in the 1970s photographic community.
