Guided Tours & Group Visits

Guided Tours

BMAC’s friendly and knowledgeable staff and volunteer docents ensure that your group will be inspired, surprised, and delighted by your visit to the museum.

We recommend that you allow an hour for a guided tour, two hours if you are a school group planning to wrap up your tour with an engaging, age-appropriate, curriculum-related creative activity based on the artwork on display.

Guided tours may be scheduled weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and occasionally on the weekend. Admission is free for public school groups, $35 for groups of 2-10, and $45 for groups of 11-25. We regret that we cannot offer guided tours to groups of more than 25.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR K-8 PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS

Thanks to support from The Turrell Fund and other sources, we are able to make the following special offer to K-8 public school teachers and students on a limited, first-come, first-served basis.

Call Education Curator Susan Calabria at 802-257-0124, ext. 102 or send email to education@brattleboromuseum.org by October 29 to schedule a two-hour guided tour and hands-on creative activity for your class during the 2010-2011 school year, and BMAC will cover the cost of school bus transportation to and from the museum.

In addition, if you so choose, Susan will visit your classroom to give a 30-minute presentation that will better prepare you and your students to take full advantage of your trip to the museum. And that’s not all… teachers who take advantage of this limited opportunity will be invited to spend a day with colleagues visiting an art museum in the region and learning from Susan and other trained museum personnel how to apply the methodology known as Visual Thinking Strategies to encourage critical thinking and literacy skills across the curriculum.

Self-Guided Group Visits

Groups of all sizes and ages are welcome to tour the museum on their own, without a guide. Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more. Self-guided group visits generally take place during regular museum hours (Thu-Mon, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Occasionally we may be able to accommodate visits outside those hours.

Admission for self-guided group visits is free for public school groups, $20 for groups of 2-10 (or regular museum admission, whichever is less), and $30 for groups of 11-25. We may be able to accommodate self-guided group visits for groups of more than 25; please inquire.
