Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
Brattleboro Museum & Art Center proudly serves as the Vermont affiliate for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, a prestigious, long-standing, national program that recognizes and nurtures the creative talents of teen artists and writers. In addition to scholarships for national Gold Key awards, many students have the opportunity to see their work in print or hanging in museum galleries.
The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers (AYAW) in New York City administers the National Scholastic Awards. The newly edited site for registration and submission opens on September 15, 2014. Please see the Vermont guidelines for art and writing.
Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to enter creative work in art and/or writing in 25 categories. There is no limit to the number of entries that an individual may submit, as long as the work was done in 2014.* Deadline for submissions is December 17, 2014.
Vermont entries will be judged regionally by teams of experts in the fields of art and writing. All Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention regional awards will be on exhibit at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center from February 17 – March 7, 2015. The Vermont Regional Awards Ceremony is on Saturday, March 7 at 12:00 p.m.
As the deadline for submissions nears, visit this page regularly for updates and reminders.
*Senior portfolios may contain work created the previous year. Check guidelines on the AYAW site.
