Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Due to unexpected technical difficulties with the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers website, the deadline to upload art and writing submissions has been extended to Friday, December 19. Signed forms and fees (checks or waivers only; no cash, please) are due at BMAC by Monday, December 22 at 5 p.m.

Brattleboro Museum & Art Center proudly serves as the Vermont affiliate for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, a prestigious, long-standing, national program administered by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers (AYAW) that recognizes and nurtures the creative talents of teen artists and writers. In addition to scholarships for national Gold Key awards, many students have the opportunity to see their work in print or hanging in museum galleries.

Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to enter creative work in art and/or writing in 25 categories. There is no limit to the number of entries that an individual may submit, as long as the work was done in 2014.*

The deadline for submissions is December 17, 2014.

Vermont entries will be judged regionally by teams of experts in the fields of art and writing. All Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention regional awards will be exhibited at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center February 17 – March 7, 2015. An awards ceremony will take place at BMAC on Saturday, March 7 at 12:00 p.m.

* Senior portfolios may contain work created the previous year. Check guidelines on the AYAW site.
