BRATTLEBORO, VT — Chief Curator Mara Williams will lead a guided tour of the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) exhibits on Saturday, January 19, at 2 p.m. Current exhibits include the New England Biennial 2012, which features the work of 13 artists in various disciplines from around New England. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for students, free for BMAC members and children under 6.

During the tour, Williams will provide an overview of the exhibit process and themes, encouraging group discussion as the tour moves through the gallery and analyzes each artists’ work and its relation to the central theme(s). This interactive experience allows curious art hounds the opportunity to gain insights, ask questions and share their impressions of current exhibits.

Williams received her MFA from Syracuse University and pursued doctoral course work at NYU before taking her first position with BMAC as director/curator, which she held for 9 years. Williams is a former chairman of the Vermont Arts Council and a former board member of the New England Museum Association. She owns Arts Bridge, LLC, a small curatorial and exhibition consulting firm, and serves as the Chief Curator at BMAC where she has curated over 300 exhibits in the past 23 years and lectures an average of 4-6 times a year.

Founded in 1972, the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center presents rotating exhibits of contemporary art, complemented by lectures, artist talks, film screenings, and other public programs. The museum’s exhibits and gift shop are open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 11-5; Friday: 11-7; Saturday: 10-5. Regular admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $4 for students. Members and children under 6 are admitted free of charge.
