Sneak Preview of Theresa Rebeck’s “Mauritius”
Our friends at the Actors Theatre Playhouse in West Chesterfield, N.H., have graciously agreed to donate the proceeds of a special preview performance of their upcoming production of Theresa Rebeck’s thriller, Mauritius, to BMAC.
“Betrayal and treason and poor behavior. A lot of poor behavior.” According to Rebeck, those are the common themes that unite her plays. Mauritius is about two half sisters who inherit a possibly valuable stamp collection and the three male philatelists who want to get their hands on it. “The stamps mean something desperate to all of them,” Rebeck said. “In some ways the stamps mean life to them. I’m a believer that all of us are broken in some way, and there’s a hole in our heart that we pour our own destruction or our children or our stamp collection into.”
Admission: $20. Only 75 tickets available. Call 802-257-0124, ext. 101, or send email to office@brattleboromuseum.org. Note: This performance is taking place at the Actors Theatre Playhouse in West Chesterfield, N.H., not at BMAC.
