Independent Lens Film Screening: “Young @ Heart”

With a show only weeks away, they must learn a slate of new songs ranging from James Brown to Coldplay. The chorus’ director leads them through tough rehearsals, proving that rock and roll can be hard work — especially if you’re hard of hearing. Climaxing in a triumphant performance, this inspiring film celebrates the unbreakable bonds of friendship and the life-affirming power of music.

Admission: free; brunch reception at 12 noon, film screening at 1 p.m., followed by Q&A with the director and members of the choir

Young@Heart is being shown at BMAC through Community Cinema, a collaboration with Vermont Public Television and Brattleboro Community Television, whereby BMAC presents free monthly screenings of films from the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens. Screening are followed by lively discussions and other events that bring together citizens, organizations, and public television stations to encourage dialogue and action around important social issues.
