Urban Blooms

Ceramic Sculpture by Linda Huey

The yin and yang of growth and decay, the perseverance of nature despite the destructive effects of humans on the environment- these are the dynamics at work in Linda Huey’s recent ceramic sculptures. Her juxtaposition of rough textures resembling fossilized rock with velvety or jewel-like glazed surfaces of blooms and seed pods highlights the question of which force might prevail. Huey’s creative technique encompasses the use of medium-fire clay and glazes, industrial materials, and molds.
