Enchanting original illustrations from Peter Sís’s picture book Tibet Through the Red Box are accompanied by many of the artist’s books, and by hands-on activities created by Museum staff. The book’s narrative brings to life a diary that Sís’s father wrote while stranded in Tibet in the 1950s. The notes from the diary (stored in a locked red box for years) are interwoven with Sís’s childhood memories of the time when his father was gone, bringing layers of imagination and meaning to the story.
